What An Accomplishment!
|
We are so grateful for your heart for Israel. Thanks to you, almost 100 families in Israel received food to eat over the latest festivals of Rosh Hashanah, Sukkoth and Simchat-Torah. They were able to worship G-D with joy both spiritually and physically.
More than 250 lonely soldiers from the Medical Corp received vouchers for food and clothing to start the Israel New Year! These soldiers come to Israel alone from many places around the world without their families to serve in the Medical Corps to save life!
In our last letter we wrote to you about Aviv's family that was living in a tent on the streets of Jerusalem. Thanks to your support and Miki Solomon's involvement, we were able to help this family to get into a decent place to stay. The government will pay their rent for 3 month and after that we are hoping they will be able to move into a permanent apartment.

What Is Happening In Israel

It sad to see that, once again, Hezbollah is collecting many rockets and other weapon in the south of Lebanon (North Israel), in so doing they are breaking the agreement with the U.N. The Muslims opened the border between Syria and Lebanon and we remain on guard as, once more, it looks as though they are planning to gather against Israel.
This last holiday season was not so quiet in the south of Israel as Hamas is still sending rocket s into the towns along the border. Up until now, no one has been hurt and let's pray it will not happen!

Our New Projects Need Your Support
|
We have started what we feel is a very necessary and important task to feed hungry children in schools here in Israel. Many students come to school every morning with nothing to eat in their school bags. These children are ashamed to sit with everyone at lunch and watch while everyone else is eating and they are not! They do not even say a word about the fact they are hungry. We decided to adopt couple of schools in Israel and feed the children every morning. That way the needy will not have to be shy and we will relieve the financial burden on each family
We know it will be a large and expensive project; but, at the same time, we know how important it is and we believe that, together with you, we can do it! This project will require a commitment of $20.00 per month for one student. A whole class can be fed for $600.00 per month. Please help us make this project a success by pledging to adopt an individual, a group of students or an entire class! We know that together we have the power to make this project work! Any amount can help to feed those hungry children!
We also need someone to come and join us to be a volunteer in Light and Mercy to help us to make this and other projects successful and to run the office! Light and Mercy is arranging for groups of teenage volunteers that will go to visit the holocaust survivors among us every week. This volunteer will stay with them, will hear their story, bring them food and more…will you help?
