A Serious Accident
|
HaShem, in His Mercy, has once again sheltered Miki in the palm of His Hand.
It has been a time of adverse events for Miki. During the last week of September, Miki’s son Dor, who is in a special unit of the Israeli Defense Force, became severely dehydrated while in training. He was evacuated by helicopter to a hospital where he was admitted for five days in serious condition. With the help of G-d, he survived the initial crisis, but has yet to be returned to his base. His blood work is still indicating some medical problem that needs attention. Please pray for the complete recovery of Dor, son of Miki Solomon.
Following a hospital visit with his son, Miki found his washing machine had stopped working. He washed all the laundry in the bath. He spoke to G-d saying he knew G-d was with him in all he was going through, and it would be alright.
Three weeks later, on October 17th, Miki was in the office of Peter Marais, of Bridges for Peace. He was scheduled to take Peter to a military base in the center of the country. In Peter’s office was an elderly gentleman, Beir Leonardo. Beir suffers from many serious medical problems. He lives in an old-age home in Netanya, Israel. The depressing conditions there were emotionally hard for him and he was hoping Peter could find another place for him to live. Miki contacted a friend who was temporarily in the US, and Miki’s friend graciously agreed to allow Beir to spend time in his apartment.
Unfortunately, the old-age home contacted Peter, informing them that Beir had to return the following day or his room would be forfeited. Miki offered to drive him to Netanya, though it was a struggle to even find money for gas. Miki’s heart was moved by all the distress Beir was under, and he could not allow him to become homeless.
It was a difficult trip for Miki. Beir had medical complications on the way back to Netanya, which were very trying for Miki. Miki refused to get discouraged and thanked G-d for the opportunity to carry out another “mitzvah” in His service.
Twenty minutes later, Miki and Beir were driving through an intersection. Another vehicle raced through a red light into the intersection. Miki was unable to avoid him and they collided. The impact was profound. Miki’s car was destroyed. Miki found himself out of the car and on the road with no idea how he got there. It was a miracle that no one was seriously injured. There were no broken bones, internal injuries and there was no blood. There were only deep bruises and shock.
When Miki was in the hospital, Peter, from Bridges for Peace, and his son came to visit him. Peter relayed to Miki a dream his wife had two nights previously. In the dream Miki died in a terrible car accident. Peter, his wife, and all the staff at Bridges for Peace had been praying for two days for Miki’s protection.
Miki is confident that it was the Power of G-d that protected him in the accident. He tells everyone that G-d’s kindness toward him, and the prayers of his friends, intervened to spare his life. On Monday, Bridges for Peace bought Miki a new washing machine!
Miki wishes to speak plainly about how this is affecting his finances. The insurance company will pay him between $3,000 and $5,000 for the car (which is not salvageable.) Miki needs another $15,000 to buy a good-working, reliable car. This is the car Miki uses on a constant basis to deliver much needed food and supplies to those who would otherwise do without. We are entreating you to please be part of this kindness for Light and Mercy. If you can send a donation it would be so appreciated. If you would pray it could help open pathways for blessings and if you would share this newsletter with many of your friends you would be helping in a wonderful way.
One more small, but meaningful, note. In the spring of 2008, David Ortiz’s 15 year old son Ami, opened a harmless looking basket of candy set by his door in celebration of Purim. An instant later, Ami was fighting for his life. The basket contained powerful explosives that critically injured Ami and destroyed their apartment. After numerous operations, physical therapy, and intensive, effective prayers, Ami is able to lead a relatively normal life…THANK G-D! When David Ortiz heard about Miki’s situation, from the kindness in his heart, he sent Miki a donation. We are very moved and honored that he would think of Light and Mercy at this time.
Thank you for your help and support!
We thank G-d for you.
