In the midst of the Old City of Jerusalem is the Western Wall. It was the western supporting wall of the Temple Mount and has remained intact since the destruction of the Second Jerusalem Temple in 70 C.E.
For centuries the prayers of the Jewish people, both in the Land of Israel and throughout the Diaspora have been directed toward the site of our destroyed Temple. The Temple itself, as well as the entire Temple Mount, is endeared to the Jews…engraved in our hearts and souls. There is a much publicized practice of placing slips of paper containing written prayers into the crevices of the Wall. Our sages state that anyone who prays in the Temple in Jerusalem, “it is as if he has prayed before the throne of glory because the gate of heaven is situated there and it is open to hear prayer.”
If you send us your prayer request, we will take it and place the note between the stones of the Wall. We would consider it a holy privilege to do so.
Light and Mercy is an Israeli nonprofit organization established with the vision of Jews and non-Jews working side by side, providing relief to terrorist victims, the poverty stricken and hungry children. We believe in the mission that God gave us to bless this holy land and the people of Israel!
