Child Badly Injured By Rocket

rocket attack Six people were injured Thursday afternoon as a Grad rocket landed in a residential area in the southern city of BeerSheva. A child sustained serious wounds to his head, a woman was severely injured, one person was moderately wounded and the rest were lightly hurt. They were all evacuated to the Soroka Medical Center in Beersheba. Four people, the family members of one of the people injured, were treated for shock at the hospital.

Vehicles and houses sustained damage, and main roads were blocked. Simultaneously, a rocket exploded in an open area in the city, and another landed near a Moshave in the Sdot Negev Regional Council. There were no reports of injuries or damage in these two incidents. The Israel Defense Forces said later that a warplane struck the launcher used to fire the Grad rocket at BeerSheva. The Air Force struck a total of 40 targets on Thursday, including 11 terror cells.

Angela and her seven-year-old son Orel were going shopping when they heard the air raid siren. Obeying the Home Front Command's instructions, the mother got out of the car and protected her son, but a Grad missile exploded next to them and shrapnel infiltrated Orel's skull. The child is now hospitalized in serious condition at the hospital where his mother works as a nurse. His father and eight-month-old sister were at home at the time of the attack.

Oriel Elazarov "They were alone in the car. The child was bored and she wanted to take him out for some fun," said the injured child's aunt. "She told me that after she lay down over the child she suddenly saw him bleeding. If they had continued driving nothing would have happened to them, but there was nowhere to hide." After realizing that her son was injured, Angela picked him up and screamed, "My child is going to die." She stopped a passing vehicle and rushed to her workplace – the Soroka Medical Center.

"They waited for this child for 11 years. We pray to God to bring him back to us. Angela works here and all the doctors say it will be okay," the worried aunt said. Today, Orel's father said: "He was sleeping in the shelter – and then this happened!" The boy, Oriel Elazarov, is fighting for his life at the Soroka University Medical Center. Please Pray for this boy!!!

Earlier, a rocket hit an open area near the town of Ofakim. Yasmin, an Ofakim resident, said "we heard a siren and then heard an explosion right next to our house. We were really scared." One rocket landed near the Sdot Regional Council at around 9:30 am, without causing injuries. Five other rockets hit the Sderot area. One rocket damaged a house and a vehicle in Sderot, and several people suffered shock. At least 10 rockets fired from the Gaza Strip on Thursday morning, hitting open areas in the Eshkol Regional Council. One of them landed near an educational institution.

Another projectile fired from Gaza at around 3 pm landed in the yard of a house in the southern city, but thanks to God - no injuries or damage was reported. In addition, one rocket exploded in the southern Israeli city of Kiryat Gat for the first time. Three people sustained minor injuries in the attack, while at least two others were treated for shock. Severe damage was caused to shops located in close proximity to the landing site.

HOW CAN I HELP?!

Send letters and paintings to terror victims, the southern residents and soldiers

victim of terror When the Light and Mercy team went to visit the terror victims, southern residents and the soldiers, they were so excited to hear about the many people around the world thinking about them, praying for them, supporting and loving them and Israel! We could see their eyes shining and smiles on their faces! Light and Mercy would like to invite you to send support letters and/or water-color paintings made by you or your children that we can deliver for you to the terror victims, southern residents and soldiers. Now, by your own hands, you can make them smile, give them hope and strengthen their spirits.

Help the Israeli deaf people to be safe from the Rockets

vibrating beepers There are approximately 2000 citizens in the area that are unable to seek a safe place in time before the missiles land - but not because they don’t want to, they simply are unable to hear the siren. They are DEAF! In many situations there are no others nearby to warn them to take cover, leaving them exposed to possible injury or death from the blast of the rocket. These people need special help to let them know that the alarm is sounding. There is technology available in the form of a beeper that is programmed to vibrate when the alarm sounds. Unfortunately, many of these hearing impaired have already been ravaged financially from the damage the war has been inflicting upon their lives and are unable to afford the cost of the beeper. Please help us to save their lives. The cost of each Vibrating Beeper to each deaf person is $150.00. You can become an Angel of Mercy to help minimize the severe psychological effects this war is having on so many.

Help The Children Of The South

children of terror Light and Mercy is orchestrating an event to take children in kindergartens from Sderot and Ashkelon out of the attack zone for a day of fun – to give them a break from the incessant missiles that keep them in their houses all day. We are wanting to give them a time to forget the fear that they feel and to give their parents some comfort in knowing that, at least for a while, their children are cared for - that they won’t have to worry about where the children are when the alarm sounds. The amount of this fun day is $48.00 for each child. We hope that we will be able to raise enough money to send everyone to fun-day! This is what little we are able to do for the children of God that are suffering in this time. Now you can help by giving them a chance to relax and a reason for them to smile!!

Special Relief Bags
We also are visiting the wounded in the hospitals and presenting them with special relief bags to help these victims make their stay at the hospitals easier. Each bag includes a shirt, slippers, toothbrush, toothpaste and other products to help make the stay in the hospital easier while they recuperate and to make them smile! Will you help us?

Head-Lamps for the Medical-Corp
When soldiers are injured it is very hard for paramedics to take very important actions to save the life of soldiers in the darkness and under fire. A light attached to the head can make the action easier for the paramedic. Please help us to save soldiers lives. Each Head-Lamp costs $12.00.

Thank you for your kindness and generousity - our G-D will bless you mightily.
